It's June in Downtown Halifax! 

The warmer weather and longer days can only mean one thing - summer is almost here!

And with so much happening this month from live entertainment to local markets and dancing socials, June is the month to visit Downtown Halifax.

ROCKWOOL Canada Sail Grand Prix: June 1-2

The most exciting racing on water is coming to Downtown Halifax June 1-2!

The ROCKWOOL Canada Sail Grand Prix (SailGP) features the world's best sailing athletes representing national teams from around the globe. 

Thousands of spectators will converge on the Halifax Waterfront to take in this incredible spectacle - the first time ever in Canada!

Argyle Street Shore Party: May 31-June 2

To celebrate SailGP, Argyle Street is shutting down for 3 nights of FREE live entertainment during the Argyle Street Shore Party - May 31 to June 2 from 6:30-10:00 pm.

Each evening will feature a schedule of local marquee artists including Ria Mae, Neon Dreams, Adam Baldwin, Rankin MacInnis and the Broken Reeds.

World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day takes place on June 8. It is a day to celebrate our world's oceans and the important role they play in our lives. It also gives us the opportunity to discuss how we can protect them.

Here are a few ways to celebrate World Oceans Day in Downtown Halifax:

June 7: Oceans & You!, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, 9:30 am - 3 pm

June 8: World Ocean Day, Queen's Marque Courtyard, 10 am - 3 pm

June 8 & 9: Ocean Week, Discovery Centre, 9 am - 4 pm each day

If you love to get out and experience live entertainment, then June is the month for you. These exciting shows will either have you glued to your seats or dancing in the aisles:

June 3: Snoop Dogg - Cali to Canada Tour, Scotiabank Centre, 7 pm

June 6-9: Cirque du Soleil: CORTEO, Scotiabank Centre, various times

June is a great month to check out some local markets that are taking place around the Downtown area. From local pop-ups to to craft markets, here are a few to check out:

June 2: Asian Cultural Market, Brewery Market, 12 - 3 pm

June 4 & 13: Local Pop-Up Markets, Halifax Convention Centre, 12 - 2 pm

June 22 & 23: Rainbow Vision Makers Market, Light House Arts Centre, 11 am - 6 pm on June 22, 11 am - 5 pm on June 23

June 29: The 5th Annual Supernova Market, Foundation Wharf on the Halifax Waterfront, 1 - 6 pm

Dance the Night Away

Dance your way into summer with free dancing on the Halifax Waterfront. 

Whether you're a newbie looking to learn or a seasoned pro who can't wait to get back on the dance floor, these free dancing socials are open and welcoming to everyone:

June 7: Latin Dance Waterfront Socials, Queen's Marque, continuing every Friday until September 27; 7 - 11 pm 

June 20: Haliente's Salsa on the Waterfront, Cunard Wharf, continuing every Thursday until September 5; 7 - 11 pm
