So much so, that in addition to all the dog-friendly patios, many shops, accommodations, and attractions (and more!) in the Downtown area will gladly welcome your pet pooch*.
Just remember to:
- Ask if your dog is welcome first
- Keep your dog on a leash and under control at all times
- Clean up after your dog

Dogs are now allowed on patios in Downtown Halifax. While they are not allowed inside food and drink establishments (with the exception of service dogs), they are allowed on patios that can be accessed from the street.

Here are a few things to remember before you take your dog to a patio:
- ASK if your dog is allowed - some patios may not be able to accommodate dogs.
- Dogs are not allowed inside (this does not apply to service dogs).
- Dogs are not allowed to eat but can drink water if bowl is brought by dog-owner.
- Follow the specific rules laid out by the food & drink establishment you are visiting.

Muir Halifax

1599 Grafton StreetPets are welcome at the Residence Inn with a $50 non-refundable fee per stay. Maximum number of pets allowed in a room is 2.
The Hollis Halifax - a DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel
1649 Hollis StreetThe Hollis Halifax has pet-friendly rooms but a $50 non-refundable fee is required, and only medium sized dogs are welcome (maximum weight is 50 pounds).
The Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel
1919 Upper Water StreetThe Marriott Harbourfront is pet friendly with a $50 (plus tax) non-refundable fee. Maximum number of pets in a room is 2.
The Prince George Hotel
1725 Market StreetThe Prince George Hotel welcomes pups to their hotel for a one-time add-on rate of $25 per stay, and they provide a welcome package that includes a comfy fleecy blanket, waste bags, water bowl, treats and more.
The Sutton Place Hotel Halifax
1700 Grafton StreetPet dogs must be 45 pounds or less (service dogs have no restrictions) and a $40 non-refundable fee is required. Maximum of 2 pets per room.

Halifax Citadel National Historic Site
5425 Sackville StreetThe Halifax Citadel National Historic Site welcomes pets on their grounds as long at they are kept on a leash at all times. Pet dogs are also welcome in their indoor spaces and exhibits, with the exception of any food service area.
Halifax Waterfront
Along Lower Water StreetThe Halifax Waterfront is a dog-walkers dream! The 4.4 km boardwalk is an ideal place to walk your pup - there are even dog waste-bag receptacles along the boardwalk. But since this is such a high-traffic area, keep your dog on a leash and make sure to clean up after them.
The Halifax Waterfront is very popular with both dog walkers and people reliant on service animals. Keeping your pets leashed and under control at all times is crucial to ensuring the Waterfront remains an inviting and inclusive space for everyone.
