From markets to live music and dancing, there's something for everyone to enjoy! 

To help you keep track, here's a quick rundown of all the exciting events and notable days to look forward to this August

August 1 is Emancipation Day in Canada. It marks the day the Slavery Abolition Act came into effect across the the British Empire. Learn more about this historic day here

    To August 3: Buskers

    The Buskers are back for the long weekend from July 29-August 3. This annual crowd-pleaser is celebrating 40 years this summer, and attracts thousands to Downtown Halifax to take in all the free fun. See all the performers slated to perform here

    August 15: Art of Disability Festival 

    The 13th Annual Art of Disability Festival is taking place on August 15 at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. This event highlights the creative talents of persons with disabilities in the Nova Scotia community. Free admission. Learn more here

    Kathleen Edwards rocks the Light House Arts Centre on August 1 at 8 pm. 

     

    August 4: Celtic on the Harbour - Mairi Rankin live at Stone's Throw Patio

    Enjoy live Celtic music on Stone's Throw Patio, featuring some of Nova Scotia's best Celtic musicians, every Tuesday in August (August 4, 11, 18 & 25). 

     

    August 4: Tuesday Night Tunes at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic - Skyler Stetler - Jazz for the Summer Vibe

    August 20: Chasing Abbey

    Chasing Abbey plays the Light House Arts Centre on August 20 at 8 pm. This award-winning trio from Ireland is known for combining cutting-edge electronic production with the heart of traditional Irish music.
