Downtown Halifax Winter Bucket List

Packing away the holiday decorations for another year can make it seem like the fun is over until the first buds start appearing on the trees again. But just because it’s January, doesn’t mean you need to hibernate. In fact, winter in Downtown Halifax is full of exciting adventures for kids of all ages. If you’re looking for a way to warm up your winter, here are a few events and activities you won’t want to miss.

Halifax Cocktail Festival

The team behind Curated Food & Drink Magazine is bringing another world-class event to the city. Taking place on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel, this inaugural celebration of mixology is not an event you want to sleep on.

Dine Around

Dine Around, the annual celebration of local food and restaurants, is back for the month of February. Savour special menus – priced from $10 up to $50 – from your favourite Halifax restaurants.

Live Music, Sport & Theatre

If you want “live”, then Downtown Halifax is the place to be! Book tickets to see your favourite musical acts at venues like The Light House Arts Centre and The Carleton; see the Halifax Mooseheads in action at the Scotiabank Centre; or take in a play at the award-winning Neptune Theatre.

The JUNO Awards

And speaking of live music, The JUNO Awards are heading east this year! Downtown Halifax will host an exciting lineup of JUNO week events from March 20-24, culminating in the 53rd Annual JUNO Awards at Scotiabank Centre on March 24.

Indoor Fun

The winter months are a great time to try something new. Test your skills at Captured Escape Rooms or Trapped Halifax; bring your A-game to the The Board Room Game Cafe; or visit one of Halifax’s world-class attractions including the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, the Discovery Centre, or the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.

Get Outside

Bundle up and enjoy a brisk walk along the Halifax Waterfront or discover new public art with the Self-Guided Downtown Art Tour.

And don’t miss the DELIGHTFUL DOWNTOWN light shows and installations taking place around Downtown to the end of March.
