In fact, it's SO jam-packed that we've updated our list of 100 Things to Do Downtown this Summer from 2023 and added 10 more exciting things to do to the list, giving you more even ideas of how to fill those summer days and nights.
To make things easy, we've divided our list up into 8 categories with a new category called "Free & Fun Events" to showcase all the free events you can experience in Downtown Halifax. We have also highlighted other free opportunities throughout the list.

Step back into time with a visit to the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site (5425 Sackville Street) and immerse yourself in the rich social and military history of Halifax.

PRO-TIP: Tours are FREE for children 10 and under.10. Explore Queen’s Marque on the Halifax Waterfront at night. Climb to the top of Rise Again – the steps the lead up to the new art installation called ‘Tidal Beacon’. As the tides rise and fall, the lights on Tidal Beacon react, culminating in a beam that shines out over the harbour.
11. Visit The Old Burying Ground (1541 Barrington Street) and find out more about the fascinating history of Halifax, or just enjoy the quiet solitude of this National Historic Site of Canada.

12. Enjoy a night on the town on Argyle Street (between Duke and Blowers Streets), the heart of Halifax’s Entertainment District. Argyle is closed to vehicles in the warmer months, and with all the local restaurants, pubs and clubs that line the street, it is the place to enjoy a night out with your friends.

99. Don’t miss KANA’TA: Canada Day 2024 on the Halifax Waterfront this year on Monday, July 1. There will be FREE activities all day including live music shows, fireworks, and more!

The Supernova Market is taking place on the Halifax Waterfront at Foundation Wharf on Saturday, June 29, from 1 - 6 pm. This annual market is FREE to attend and filled with vendors selling unique products from all across Canada.
101. The Halifax Busker Festival is taking place from July 31 – August 5 on the Halifax Waterfront. This FREE family-friendly event is a summertime tradition for most locals.
102. Try your hand at salsa with FREE dancing on the Waterfront at the Tall Ships Quay (1325 Lower Water Street on the Halifax Harbourwalk) every Thursday night from 7-11 pm until September 5, and every Friday at Queen’s Marque from 6:30-10 pm until September 27.

105. Enjoy FREE live music at the Halifax Jazz Festival with their daytime shows on the Halifax Waterfront. The all-ages shows are open to the public from 11:30 am – 3 pm from July 10 – 14.
106. Attend the 12th Annual Art of Disability Festival, taking place Saturday, August 10 at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.
