October is Mi'kmaw History Month in Nova Scotia. A time for all Nova Scotians to increase their knowledge and awareness of Mi'kmaw culture, history and heritage.
This years theme is "Nepisulti'k - We are Healing", which highlights that healing and wellness are a lifelong journey.

September 26 - October 4: Prismatic Arts Festival
September 29: Flag raising, Grand Parade, 12 noon
September 30: Special Film Screenings: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21
October 1: Treaty Day Parade, begins on Barrington Street at Government House, travels down Bishop Street, and ends on Hollis Street at Peace and Friendship Park, 1:15 - 1:45 pm
October 1: Treaty Day Flag Raising and Proclamation, Peace and Friendship Park, 1:30 pm
October 3: Wije'winen Kjipuktuk Gala 2026, Halifax Convention Centre

To October 4: Prismatic Arts Festival
Prismatic Arts Festival is a multidisciplinary arts festival that showcases and celebrates innovative work by Indigenous artists and artists of colour from across Canada. Enjoy works in theatre, dance, music, film, and more.
October 15 - 18: Nocturne: Embodied City
Founded in 2008, Nocturne is a Halifax's annual free all-night contemporary art festival. It's the largest art festival in Atlantic Canada, and although it takes place all over the Halifax area, the majority of the events and installations take place in Downtown Halifax.
