Downtown Halifax is the urban heart of the Halifax (Kjipuktuk) region. With world-class attractions, hundreds of restaurants, pubs, shops, festivals and events, Downtown Halifax is where people and businesses want to be. 

Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC) is a not-for-profit organization that represents the 1600+ businesses located in the Downtown area. We run programs, events, and marketing initiatives to help make Downtown Halifax a better place to live, work, and play.

And just like that, it’s January – the start of a brand new year!

DELIGHTFUL DOWNTOWN is a series of vivid light shows and installations around Downtown Halifax, and includes the beautiful light projection shows on the former Halifax Memorial Library Building at Grafton Park and the dazzling winter-themed lights in Peace and Friendship Park.

Downtown Halifax Business Commission has unveiled Downtown Halifax Vision 2030, a report that identifies the transformational moves that will inform Downtown Halifax’s success for the future.

The four transformational moves we identified are: Everybody’s Neighbourhood, Harbour 365, Entertainment Central, and Move Smart.

Downtown Halifax's Navigator Outreach Program offers direct support to the unhoused and precariously housed population in the urban core.
