About the Event

Since 2012, the Art of Disability Festival hosted by Independent Living Nova Scotia has celebrated the creativity, talent, and voices of artists with disabilities from across the community. This inclusive event showcases a wide range of artistic expression — from visual art and photography to music, performance, spoken word, and more.

Each year, the festival brings together artists, community members, and supporters for a day of connection, creativity, and celebration. What began with a small group of participants has grown into a vibrant event featuring approximately 30 talented artists, highlighting the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and representation in the arts.

The Art of Disability Festival is more than an art show — it is a celebration of community, self-expression, and the diverse experiences and perspectives that make our communities stronger.
