About the Event
Join the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia on Wednesday, February 7 (7pm – 9:30pm), at The Carleton (1685 Argyle St, Halifax) to celebrate local romance writing!
Nova Swoons is a very special edition of WFNS’s Nova Reads public reading series that shines a spotlight on Nova Scotian authors of romance fiction, from historical romance to the supernatural. Hosted by local drag artist Anna Mona-Pia and featuring an entertaining lineup of Halifamous readers, Nova Swoons will be an evening of fun, flirty, and sexy readings to put you in an amorous mood just in time for Valentine’s Day!
Featured readers include NDP MLA Lisa Lachance, meteorologist Cindy Day, Councillor Waye Mason, Saltwire journalist Katy Jean, Mayor Mike Savage, and CBC’s Portia Clark.
Featured authors include Donna Alward (The House on Blackberry Hill), Katerina Bakolias (Luscious Love), Renee Field (The Heart of the Family), Deanna Foster (Post Mortem Management), Cathryn Fox (Kilt Trip), Deborah Hale (The Bonny Bride), Michelle Helliwell (A Captivating Caper), and Nicole Northwood (The Devil You Know).
During the event, find these and other locally authored romance novels for purchase at the Dartmouth Book Exchange table—and get ready for your chance to win some fabulous door prizes!
Event tickets are provided through our venue partner, The Carleton. This fundraising event will support WFNS programming, including creative writing workshops, the Jampolis Cottage Residency Program, the Alistair MacLeod Mentorship Program, and Writers In the Schools.
