Seeing the effects of the wildfire in Hammonds Plains and Tantallon has moved the Downtown Halifax community to spring into action.
Downtown businesses and organizations are providing support for the evacuees and the emergency response crew. Some are offering donations to provide to those in need, and others are currently collecting donations to be dropped off to the evacuees.

For those who are affected by the wildfires looking for an activity for the whole family or just a place to enjoy for a break, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, both Halifax and Western Branch, are open with free admission for you through the weekend.

Donating $1 for each of their seasonal drinks on tap to the United Way Wildlife Recovery all this week and next.

"We would like to offer free coffee to any first responders who have been working on the frontlines. If any first responders happen to be downtown or have a day off, please feel free to stop by the cafe for any coffee/tea drink of your choice. We know this cannot fix what is happening, but we are here to offer you a little bit of comfort.
