Meet Moira Murray, Chef de Cuisine at Peacock Wine Bar
Moira grew up in Halifax surrounded by family members who enjoyed hosting, entertaining, cooking, and baking for others. However, it wasn’t until the final year of her kinesiology degree at Dalhousie University that she knew she was destined for culinary school. She moved to Toronto in 2009 where she completed her culinary management diploma at George Brown College and began a catering company. She worked as a chef for several years, traveling to New York, British Columbia, and working at a variety of different restaurants as well as a private chef throughout her journey.
In 2022, when she was presented with the opportunity to move back home and work at the brand-new Peacock Wine Bar, she was ecstatic. If the interior design and knowledgeable staff aren’t enough to draw you in, this cozy restaurant and wine bar serves an ever-evolving selection of global wines alongside your choice of shared plates or multi-course meals. Moira and her team’s passion for food and creativity are evident on every plate. Their menu evolves with the seasons, using locally sourced ingredients (some of which Moira has foraged herself), and often turned into beautiful, vegetable-forward dishes.
