About the Event

Artwork, historical objects and documents reflect artist JJ Lee’s Chinese Maritime family’s immigration experience in this new temporary exhibition. The mixed media installation tells the remarkable story of her family’s multi-generational emigration from China, between 1916 and 1957.

Read about how a discovery in her parents’ attic revealed Lee’s previously unknown family history and how it led her to create In My Yesterday.

Created in partnership with the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
