Welcome to Turtle Island: Indigenous Art Intervention

The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 is pleased to announce the installation of Welcome to Turtle Island, a stunning and informative Indigenous art intervention now on view at the Museum. Created by Tribal Fusion Art, a collaboration between fused glass artists Melinda Robertson (Anishinaabe – Lake Manitoba First Nation) and Shannon Monk (Anisininew – St. Theresa Point First Nation / Mi’kmaq – Lennox Island First Nation / Celtic – Nova Scotia), the intervention invites visitors to reconsider the story of movement, belonging, and relationship on this land long before the arrival of newcomers.

Welcome to Turtle Island will on view in the Canadian Immigration Story exhibition until December 2027.

Bienvenue sur l’île de la Tortue : Intervention artistique autochtone

Le Musée canadien de l’immigration du Quai 21 a le plaisir d’annoncer l’installation de Bienvenue sur l’île de la Tortue, une intervention artistique autochtone à la fois étonnante et instructive, maintenant exposée au Musée. Créée par Tribal Fusion Art, une collaboration entre les artistes du verre fusionné Melinda Robertson (Anishinaabée - Première Nation du lac Manitoba) et Shannon Monk (Anisininew - Première Nation de St. Theresa Point/Première Nation mi'kmaq de l’île Lennox/Celte - Nouvelle-Écosse), l’intervention invite les visiteurs à réexaminer l’histoire du mouvement, de l’appartenance et des relations sur cette terre bien avant l’arrivée des nouveaux arrivants.

Bienvenue sur l’île de la Tortue sera présentée dans le cadre de l’exposition sur l’Histoire de l’immigration canadienne jusqu’en décembre 2027.
