The Halifax Salsa & Bachata Festival celebrates the richness and resilience of Afro-Latin culture in Atlantic Canada through dance 💃🏽, music 🎶, art 🎨, food 🌮, and community connection 🤝. Rooted in rhythm and shaped by memory, the festival creates joyful, inclusive spaces where everyone, regardless of background or experience, can move, express themselves, and belong.
Now in its 7th year, the festival returns as a three-day cultural oasis 🏝️ filled with free and ticketed events that bring downtown Halifax to life. From spontaneous street dance to curated art showcases and electrifying live concerts, this year’s edition transforms Bedford Row and the Halifax Waterfront into vibrant stages for culture, connection, and celebration.
What to Expect This Year
🗓️ Thursday kicks off with Salsa by the Wave: a free, family-friendly celebration on the waterfront 🌊
🗓️ Friday comes alive with the Rhythm & Soul Street Fest: a dynamic evening of food vendors 🍲, pop-up dance showcases 💥, a concert with Son Latino 🎤, and our signature Afro-Caribbean & Latin Block Party 🪩.
🗓️ Saturday reaches its peak with Arte y Ritmo: The Afro-Latin Street Gala: an elegant night 🌃 of visual art 🖼️, dance performances 💃🏾🕺🏽, Afro-Latin cuisine 🍹, and a headline performance by Latin Grammy nominated and internationally acclaimed salsa artist Ricky Campanelli and his 11-piece orchestra 🎺.
