About the Event

As part of our Asian Heritage Month and Open City programming, join us for the opening of a new exhibition. In My Yesterday is a solo exhibition by artist JJ Lee, reflecting on her Chinese Maritime family’s immigration experience through artwork, historical objects and documents.

In 2021, JJ Lee generously donated over 50 documents, archival photographs and artifacts to the Museum’s Collection. Complemented by Lee’s own artwork and family belongings, this mixed media installation tells a remarkable story of her family’s multi-generational emigration from China, between 1916 and 1957.

Light refreshments and food from a legacy Halifax Chinese restaurant will be featured.
