About the Event

In honour of the centenary of the Chinese Immigration Act of 1923 (known as the "Chinese Exclusion Act"), the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 is proud to present Albert Lee's Wok & Talk. Walk the historic South End neighbourhood that was the traditional home of Halifax's Chinese community as local Chinese historian Albert shows you the former sites of Chinese-owned businesses and homes and gives background about how the Act affected the Chinese community in the Maritimes. Walk will begin and end at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 with further discussion and Q&A and a mini tour of the In My Yesterday special exhibition.

Walk is approximately 1 hour. Discussion/Q&A/mini tour of In My Yesterday approximately 30 minutes.
