Meet Claudia Torres, General Manager at Bells Lane Kitchen

Claudia grew up in Colombia, studied business and marketing, and started her professional life in sales and category management before pursuing something she became increasingly passionate about: culinary management. She moved to Toronto in 2018 to study at George Brown College and worked her way up in the industry from a cook to management positions. Her passion for the food and beverage industry led her to the exciting opportunity of developing, opening, and now managing the brand new Bells Lane Kitchen that opened in Downtown Halifax in December 2023.  

Bells Lane is the first-of-its-kind food hall experience located at Purdy’s Landing (pedway level), 1949 Upper Water Street. Operated by Scanway Catering, they offer a variety of dine-in, to-go, and catering options. Their coffee counter features a variety of breakfast options, pastries, smoothies, soups, salads, and sandwiches, whereas their restaurants feature food from around the world such as Mediterranean, the Americas, and South Asia. Indian cuisine is one of their staples, where food is cooked traditionally in a Tandoor oven, creating flavours and aromas that are unmatched. The 6,000 square-foot space also includes a full-service bar and a market that sells local products, house-made bread, and other grab and go options.

Open 7am – 6pm Monday – Friday, this multifaceted space is a place to gather, socialize, work, and shop.  The impressive, nautical design by Breakhouse creates a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with the addition of an outdoor patio opening as soon as the weather permits. Bells Lane Kitchen acts as the perfect meeting ground for events such as corporate socials, holidays parties or whatever you can conceive.
