About the Event

Join the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 and the Atlantic Jewish Council as Holocaust survivor Eva Kuper shares her story of survival and reclamation of identity.

Born in Poland in 1940, as a child Kuper avoided deportation to concentration camps several times before she was separated from her father and was eventually placed with Franciscan nuns, where she spent the rest of the war. She was reunited with her father, but she had been raised Catholic and knew nothing of her Jewish roots, until her father revealed her Jewish heritage to her on the ship to Canada in 1948. It took years for her to accept this and be proud of her Jewish identity.
