25th ANNUAL CHRONICLE HERALD HOLIDAY PARADE OF LIGHTS
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2020 • 6:00 p.m
The Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights is the kick-off to the holiday season in Halifax with festive floats, marching bands, dancers, and the one and only... Santa Claus!
The parade will look a little different this year. Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings, the in-person aspect of the event will not take place however many of the other traditions that provide benefit to the city of Halifax will live on this year, including the annual fundraiser for Feed Nova Scotia.
On Nov. 21, 2020, at 6 p.m., Eastlink Television will be broadcasting a “best of” Holiday Parade of Lights and encouraging local businesses and restaurants to show the parade and give customers the opportunity to carry out some of their traditions.
“We recognize the importance that the parade plays for many families, charities and our local economy,” said Mark Lever, CEO of Saltwire Network. “After discussing with our partners, everyone agreed there was still an opportunity to bring parts of the parade to life, especially those that bring economic benefit to restaurants and businesses downtown and to our community partner, Feed Nova Scotia.”

HOW YOUR BUSINESS CAN GET INVOLVED
Every year the parade supports the local economy by bringing over 100,000 people downtown Halifax and is an important annual fundraiser for Feed Nova Scotia. Although the in-person aspect of the parade will not be happening this year, we still want to encourage everyone to support downtown and Spring Garden businesses and Feed Nova Scotia.
In partnership with Downtown Halifax and Spring Garden Business Commissions, we are asking the public to eat out, order in, and purchase from businesses on Saturday, November 21 and for businesses to fundraise in support of Feed Nova Scotia.
How to participate:
- Create a fundraising plan to encourage people to come to your business to raise money for Feed Nova Scotia on Saturday, November 21.
- E.g. food special with portion of proceeds donated, asking patrons to add a donation to the guest's bill, match donations raised at your door, auction off a dinner party, etc.
- Promote your participation on social media using the hashtag #FeedHPOL, letting the public know that your business will be participating and fundraising.
- Show Eastlink’s “best of” The Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights on channels 6 and 610 starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 21.
- Donate funds raised to Feed Nova Scotia.
