Downtown Halifax Live Announces Line-Up of In-Person and Virtual Concerts

Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC), in partnership with Music Nova Scotia and Spider Video, is pleased to present the first-ever Downtown Halifax Live In-Person and Virtual Concerts, from a variety of musical genres. Audiences can either attend in-person at the various establishments or watch the shows for free via Facebook Live on the “Downtown Halifax” Facebook page or via YouTube Live on the DHBC1 channel.

“Over the past 12 years, Tunes at Noon concerts in Grand Parade became a summertime staple of Downtown Halifax musical entertainment,” said Paul MacKinnon, CEO of Downtown Halifax Business Commission. “With COVID-19, we had to cancel the concert series for 2020 and rethink how we could support businesses in Downtown Halifax and the artists that experienced significant financial losses this year. The Downtown Halifax Live Grant and Virtual Concerts are a small way to help address that challenge.”

Downtown Halifax created a grant program for Downtown Halifax businesses to help offset costs of booking live music in their establishments. Sixteen businesses applied and received grants that represented over 35 shows taking place between September 1 to December 31, 2020. Out of those 35+ shows, four were selected for live streaming so that more people could enjoy local talent performing live at Downtown venues.
