To celebrate I Love Local’s City Harvest on October 21, Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC) will be offering family-friendly activities in their “storefront” space at 1546 Barrington Street, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, to support the participating businesses in Downtown Halifax.
DHBC is also participating in “I Belong Downtown,” a nation-wide conversation created by the Canadian Urban Institute. During City Harvest, DHBC will have comfortable chairs and fun props for folks to stop by and take a picture or record a message at the “I Belong Downtown” pop-up on Argyle Street, between Prince and Sackville Streets. DHBC is one of five project partners across Canada – along with the Downtown Victoria BIA, Downtown Saskatoon BIA, Downtown London BIA, and Yonge Street BIA in Toronto – that is helping to promote the project and gather stories from Canadians across the country.
“City Harvest is a great event to showcase the fantastic businesses in Downtown Halifax,” said Paul MacKinnon, DHBC Executive Director. “Over 20 businesses participate year after year to encourage locals and visitors to explore what the area has to offer. Taking advantage of the crowds for City Harvest, DHBC will be gathering stories at the pop-up on the almost-complete Argyle Street about Downtown Halifax to share across Canada. It’s exciting to do new events on the street with the Argyle and Grafton Streetscape so close to completion.”
