On Wednesday, June 6, 2018, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, over 100 volunteers from local businesses and organizations will split into teams and clean the streets of Downtown Halifax for the 24th Annual Clean Sweep. Hosted by the Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC), teams will gather at Grand Parade before heading off to clean their assigned “cleaning zone.” DHBC is currently seeking volunteers to form teams of four to six members. Volunteers can register for the 2018 Clean Sweep by completing the registration form at downtownhalifax.ca/cleansweep or by contacting David MacDonald at email@example.com or (902) 423-2179. The deadline for registration is May 31, 2018.
“Clean Sweep is a great event to bring the Downtown Halifax community together for a common goal – making Downtown clean and litter-free,” said Paul MacKinnon, Executive Director of DHBC. “It’s great to see teams have fun with the event – some even wear costumes and everyone shows a lot of enthusiasm – while doing something positive and tangible for the area.”
Beginning mid-morning in Grand Parade, teams will meet and be given supplies as well as an assigned cleaning zone that they are to clean as much as possible within the allotted hour. Upon returning to Grand Parade, participating teams will be given lunch. As well, awards will be given out and prizes will be drawn. Prize donations are currently being accepted.
