On Wednesday, June 7, over 100 volunteers from local businesses and organizations will come together to sweep the streets of Downtown Halifax. Presented by Downtown Halifax Business Commission, the 23rd Annual Clean Sweep will take place in Grand Parade, where volunteer teams gather before heading to their designated cleaning zones. DHBC is currently looking for volunteer teams of four to six members. Volunteers can register by completing the registration form. “Clean Sweep is a great event to bring the Downtown Halifax community together for a common goal – making Downtown clean and litter-free,” said Paul MacKinnon, Executive Director of DHBC. “The volunteers really band together to accomplish something positive for the area. With over 100 volunteers, it makes a tangible difference.”
On June 7, registered teams will meet mid-morning in Grand Parade, where they are given supplies and a designated section of Downtown Halifax to sweep for one hour. When teams return to Grand Parade, they are treated to lunch, awards, and prize draws.
