Downtown Halifax is hosting the 30th anniversary of the East Coast Music Awards from May 2 to 6. There will be a number of events taking place in the Downtown core including street closures on Argyle Street (between Blowers and Prince Streets).
ECMA 30th Anniversary Kick Off Waterfront Concert
The ECMA 30th Anniversary Kick Off Waterfront Concert will take place on May 2 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. The concert will take place in the Foundation Place lot at 1549 Lower Water Street, next to the Waterfront Warehouse. This lot will be closed for set-up and tear-down on Wednesday, May 2 and Thursday, May 3.
2018 East Coast Music Awards Show Red Carpet
The 2018 East Coast Music Awards Show Red Carpet is taking place Thursday, May 3 from 6:00 to 7:45 pm in front of the Scotiabank Centre. The right side lane on Duke Street, closest to the Scotia Bank Centre, will be closed to traffic. Expect increased traffic congestion on Duke and Brunswick Street during this time.
ECMA Argyle Street Stage presented by RBC
The ECMAs are setting up a stage (called "ECMA Argyle Street Stage presented by RBC") on Argyle Street North in front of the Halifax Convention Centre across from The Carleton.They will be closing that block of Argyle (between Sackville and Prince) to traffic the following times:
Thursday, May 3 – 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
Friday, May 4 – 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
Saturday, May 5 – 8:00 am to 8:00 am on Sunday, May 6
2018 ECMA Argyle Street Fest
On Saturday, May 5, DHBC is partnering with the ECMAs to host the 2018 ECMA Argyle Street Fest from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. Argyle Street South will be closed for this event on Saturday, May 5, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
During this event, Argyle South will have family activities including two inflatables, popcorn, cotton candy, face-painting, and more. The ECMA Argyle Street Stage presented by RBC on Argyle Street North will feature five East Coast artists including Jenn Grant, Dylan Menzie, Villages, The Once, and City Natives.
There will also be the RBC bus on Argyle Street North that will open up for artist meet & greets, autograph sessions, and more.
Argyle North will also have three portable toilets set up for the event between 10:00 am and the early evening on the corner of Sackville and Argyle Streets in front of the Halifax Convention Centre.
During the Argyle Street Fest, all performances and the family area are free and open to the public.
We are asking that businesses refrain from installing the temporary extension of their patios into the pedestrian zone for this event due to space restrictions.
Businesses are welcome to do sampling and/or vending on the street, but are responsible for obtaining their own licenses as needed.
