WHAT:
The 14th Annual Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights, featuring over 50 entries of floats, live music, marching bands, majorettes and more.
WHO:
The 14th Annual Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights is presented by EastLink and the Downtown Halifax Business Commission.
WHEN:
Saturday, November 21, 2009, starting at 6:00 pm
WHERE:
The Parade begins at the north end of Upper Water Street and heads directly over the overpass to Barrington Street. It continues on Barrington Street and turns right on Spring Garden Road, left on South Park Street, and concludes at the corner of University Avenue and Robie Street.
TRAFFIC NOTES:
- Timed street closures will occur along the parade route.
- Expect traffic and parking delays in the downtown core.
- Consider using Metro Transit. For transit information, call 490-4000.
- There will be additional ferry service between downtown Dartmouth and downtown Halifax.
- Centre lane traffic on the bridge will be altered to accommodate two lanes of traffic coming into Halifax before the event and two lanes of traffic heading into Dartmouth after the event.
- There is no parking permitted along the parade route.
- The Waterfront Development Corporation Limited is offering free parking at its Lower Water Street beginning at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 21, on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Please keep children safely on the curb and off the street during the parade.
- The parade will proceed regardless of weather conditions.
