Parade Route Traffic Notice
On Saturday, November 21, starting at 6:00 pm, the Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights will move along Upper Water Street at Cornwallis Street, continue over the Barrington Street overpass onto Barrington Street and turn right onto Spring Garden Road. It then turns left on South Park and then right onto University Avenue, concluding at the corner of University Avenue and Robie Street. There will be no parking along the Parade route. It will be a rolling street closure and expect some traffic and parking delays. There will be additional ferry service and the Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission will redirect lanes to accommodate event traffic.

Call for Parade Volunteers
If you’re 16 years of age or older, volunteer for the 14th Annual Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights on Saturday, November 21! Over 100 volunteers are needed. Parade Day Activities
Waterfront Development Corporation Limited is offering free parking from noon on the 21 to noon on the 22 of November on a first-come, first-serve basis. Also, from 4:00-6:00 pm they are offering free hot chocolate for anyone who would like to warm up. Special thanks to their partners, Waterfront Warehouse and Murphy’s The Cable Wharf. Bishop’s Cellar will have wine open all night starting at 5:00 pm until close at midnight. For the kids there will be some hot mulled cider available. pur alternatives, the new store in Barrington Place Shops, is offering a free gift to anyone who makes a purchase greater than $15 only on Parade Day and while supplies last. To celebrate, they are also staying open an extra hour until 6:00 pm.


Shop Downtown for the Holidays – Nov 23-28
Participating Downtown retailers offer tax-free shopping and discounts while Downtown bars and restaurants offer drink and food specials during the week of November 23-28. Be a Part of Olympic History!
Join the HRM Community Celebration in Grand Parade on November 18, 6:00-8:00 pm, for live entertainment and the arrival of the Olympic Torch to end that day’s leg of the relay. On November 20, be at Halifax Citadel National Historic Site of Canada at 6:30-8:00 am when the Olympic Torch leaves the site shortly after 7:00 am. The 78th Highlanders will mark the lighting and departure of the Olympic Torch. Presented by Parks Canada, with assistance from Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame. Admission to the site will be free. Anthony Tung at Saint Mary’s University
Renowned author and instructor in architectural history, Anthony Tung, will be speaking about how historic preservation laws have saved architectural treasures and sparked a global revolution in urban management, with clear implications for Halifax. The talk will be held at the Scotiabank Theatre in the Sobey Building at Saint Mary’s University on November 19, at 4:00 pm.
