DHBC’s Annual General Meeting: June 9
Please join the DHBC’s Board and Staff for their Annual General Meeting. The event will take place at G Lounge located at 1579 Grafton Street, starting at 4:00 pm. The AGM will include: DHBC’s activities of the past year; DHBC’s financial review and a review of the DHBC 2010 Membership Survey. DHBC’s 16th Annual Clean Sweep
Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 2, due to the overwhelming response, over 150 volunteers will fill the streets of Downtown Halifax from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon to participate in the 16th Annual Clean Sweep! The event is set to prepare the city for a busy tourist season and is a kick-off for the DHBC Enviro team. Clean Sweep occurs on National Clean Air Day, coinciding with Canadian Environment Week (May 31-June 5). The following organizations have registered teams for this year’s Clean Sweep: Abridean, Aon Reed Stenhouse Inc., Avante-Guard, Cambridge Suites, Credit Union Atlantic, Delta Hotels, Fortis Properties, Greater Halifax Partnership, Halifax Marriott Harbourfront, Marriott Residence Inn, McInnes Cooper, Nova Scotia Environment, Nova Scotia Power, Public Works & Government Services Canada, Royal Bank of Canada, Southwest Properties, Thinkwell Research, The Terry Fox Foundation, Trade Centre Limited, Transportation & Infrastructure Renewal and the Waterfront Development Corporation Ltd. This year’s prizes have been generously donated by: Fortis Properties, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, Remedy Facial Bar & Spa, WWF Canada and Public Works & Government Services Canada. Supporters of this year’s Clean Sweep event include: Enviro Waste, Tim Hortons and Clean Nova Scotia.

The Downtown Halifax Business Commission is pleased to present the 2010 Enviro Team, a group of students who will provide tourist information and maintain the cleanliness of the Downtown throughout the spring and summer months. You can spot the Enviro Team sporting dark red polos with a large white question mark on the back so they can be easily identified!

Halifax Farmers’ Market - Waterfront Parking
As of June 1, parking at Salter Block, Halifax waterfront (across from the Halifax Farmer’s Market), will no longer be available as construction gets underway. The Saturday morning flat rate of $3 from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm will continue to be available in Cunard Lot (1325 Lower Water Street), next to the Emera building. Other WDCL parking lots near by offer Pay & Display parking for $3/hour; flat nightly rates.
FUSION Halifax Mentor Program
Led by FUSION Halifax’s People Factor Action Team, the FUSION Halifax Mentor Program creates extraordinary opportunities for 20 young professionals to learn from and share with established leaders. Through eight-month partnerships, participants will engage in a dialogue rooted in the mentor’s insight and experiences as they relate to current industry trends – a knowledge exchange that will benefit both those in the corner offices and up-and-comers. Jazz, Glory and Praise
On July 15 and 16, the Archdiocese of Halifax will hold "Jazz, Glory and Praise". Events will be held on July 15 and 16, in a tent in St. Mary’s Cathedral parking lot.
